An Exhibition Where the Past & Present Collide
Ohio Reclaimed: What Once Was
Explore once-inhabited Ohio locations from Mother Nature’s point-of-view, as the natural environment reclaims these former landmarks.
Join us on an empathy-evoking tour, led by Mother Nature, across Ohio’s land, leaving the viewer to wonder who the territory really belongs to: humankind or Mother Nature herself.
Opening Friday, October 4, 2024
5pm-8pm at Summit Artspace
in downtown Akron, Ohio.
Poetry Reading
by Theresa Göttl Brightman
at 7pm Opening Night.
Each location’s story is told through multiple pieces and mediums: photographic prints from handmade cliché-verre negatives, oil based-landscape paintings, and evocative poetry.
Artwork includes poetry by Theresa Göttl Brightman, photography by Mary Defer, and paintings by Dee Fairweather
Each of the twelve sites featured in this exhibition capture varying emotion, tone, and prose. From the Ferris Wheel at Chippewa Lake, the abandoned locks in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, and the Warner Swasey Observatory, Mother Nature shares her observations of the mark of humankind.
